The Nigeria Leadership Honorary Awards is a new award scheme designed by The Business Executive Media Group and is to be implemented through TBE Nigeria Limited, the subsidiary of the Group, established to execute its business activities in that country. This unique new awards scheme aims at identifying and publicly recognizing exemplary public performance among the political leadership in Nigeria, specifically comprising of top tier elected government officials and political appointees. Between these two classes of state functionaries, are found the country’s political leadership and their quality determines the quality of political governance, economic management and the level of social development, all of which in combination determines the quality of life enjoyed by the citizenry.

Our awards scheme therefore aims to appreciate exemplary performance and conduct of both past and present leaders, thus encouraging improved public service by political leaders across the various levels of governance – Federal and state – on a sector by sector basis and across the various types of governance institution, comprising the executive arm of governance, the legislature, the judiciary, and the diplomacy. While successive political administrations in Nigeria have often been criticized for poor governance quality, many political leaders in Nigeria have performed exceptionally well and will be publicly recognized and appreciated for this. Furthermore these exceptional leaders will be positioned as role models for the rest of Nigeria’s political leadership.

Awards will be conferred on selected elected officials and political appointees, both past and present, through a comprehensive, non- politically partisan assessment process involving nominations from the public; validation of nominations by our dedicated independent research consultants resulting in a shortlist of leading nominees in each delineated category; and finally assessments of short-listed nominations by our specially constituted awards selection jury comprising highly reputed and accomplished public policy analysts, political governance experts, economic managers and societal development expert whose deliberations will ultimately decide on the winners.

Awards will be conferred on the winners at a five star gala event to be held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital in 2022.

The awards scheme will be financed primarily by corporate/institutional sponsorships. Neither nominees nor actual winners will be required to pay for their awards.
